This image was shot in Marsaxlokk, Malta. Marsaxlokk is a traditional fishing village located in the south-eastern part of Malta, and is popular among tourists for seafood restaurants, Sunday market, and these colorful boats floating in the bay with turquoise water. I had reservation for dinner at a restaurant in the village, I arrived a couple of hours before my dinner. It was already past sunset and there was a storm brewing. The sea was choppy and the boats were pulled up out of the water. In the background stood the tall chimney of the Delimara power station, working day in day out, rain or shine as it was designed to be. The image that was in front of me was a stark contrast to the ones I had seen on websites and travel guides. After exploring the place, witnessing a local wedding in the storm and settling in my table by the window the charm of this small village started to win me over. May be it was the food, may be it was the relaxed atmosphere or just the lovely people but certainly not the sunshine and the colors.
